The making of Caddyshack II: Behind the bomb

About 20 years ago, a monumental event happened. I’m not talking about Black Monday and the stock market crash of 1987. Or Jim Bakker and the PTL affair letting the world know about the excesses of Tammy Faye’s false eyelashes. No, what happened sometime around 1987 is that someone, somewhere in Hollywood, decided to make the sequel to Caddyshack. The ill-fated, indescribably bad Caddyshack II. (more…)

XM Radio channel 21: Seriously, who's running this show?

Not only does XM Radio have a penchant for playing angry gangsta rap on channel 21 (“KISS 21: Fresh hits of pop, rhythm and rock”), today I found another oddity. Around noon – apparently, they’re trying to rattle me at lunchtime and cause a 30-car pileup – I heard “White Lines” by Grandmaster Flash on Channel 21. Yep… a groundbreaking, 24-year-old rap song…. is a “fresh hit” of “pop, rhythm and rock.”
